So it seems that I remember someone here saying that the only jobs available to the American people were low paying jobs. Jobs that were not enough to give a family a decent enough life. Well I, Charles.C, am here to tell you that these rumors are wrong.

I just recently moved back to Florida after living in Puerto Rico for 2 ½ years. I moved to Puerto Rico cause I was not doing well here in Miami. But that was my fault; I was so bent on starting my life at the top that I ended up rock bottom below where I was before I even started. Things in Puerto Rico were not any better, but that was due to the economy and bad politics of the country. I lived in a small town far from the big cities. The closest Wal-Mart was built just a few months after I moved there and I still needed a car to get to it. Local public transportation was about as good as service at a fast food drive thru.

Anyways, I got lucky to find a job that paid $9.5 an hour, those are rare. Just that I was only part-time with full-time in sight. I was frustrated after waiting for 2 years to get any word on possible full-time so I decided to move back to the good old US of A. I can, however, say that the 2 ½ years I lived in Puerto Rico weren’t a total loss. It actually gave me plenty of time to think about what I did wrong, to think of what I need to change in my life, to make a plan to succeed and to clear my mind of the past so that I can focus on the future.

After much talk about me leaving Puerto Rico, I’m finally here. I finally made it back to Florida and I already set my plan in motion. (This is where I get to stick it to those who said there were no good jobs available to support a family.) I have only been here for 2 ½ weeks and I already got a job. I’m working for a Contractor, a pretty good one. And guess what? I get paid good, good enough to give my family a decent lifestyle. If you want proof I’ll send you a copy of my first pay stub. You see, there is no such thing as poor in the US; there are only those who chose not to make something of themselves and those who the Gov’t forgets or ignore (which they should be ashamed of for doing so). Once my wife starts working, which I can guarantee she will find a good paying job as well, things will really start looking up. How do you like them apples?

It’s all about how bad you want it. If you try your best, expect the worst, then try again, eventually you will get on the right track and on the right road to success. But you have to want it, you have to work hard for it, you have to be willing to sacrifice a little, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up and don’t look back except to show others how to do it. The past is important; it helps you avoid making the same mistakes again. Just don’t let it bring you down, use your weakness as a strength. Try your best and more, never give up and no one or nothing will be able to stand in your way to success. Have faith, believe in yourself. That’s all you really need.

To all those who think that things are not good here, well I say read a newspaper once in a while, watch the news on TV or listen to the radio. The deficit is shrinking, Alzarqawi is dead, Al-Qaeda is on the run, Iraq has a new Gov’t, the US economy is getting better and better, need I say more? Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Congratulations and continued best wishes for you to get everything you want accomplished. It's good that you are recognizing that you have to be the one that gets things for yourself, as that attitude will take you very far in life, and lead to many good things along the way.
