From my point of view

You gotta wonder, what would make Car Makers and Big Oil companies want to make cars that run on anything other than gas? I mean what for? They have never really cared about the environment till now. Regardless of any changes they may have done, gas always has and always will be damaging to the environment. But let’s not forget that most people don’t care either, sure some will do their best to not hurt the environment, but I don’t exactly see hundreds upon hundreds of bicycles of the streets of the US. While SUV, Pick-ups and fast movie cars sales were shy-rocketing not so long ago, not one of those buyers were ever having the environment as part of the pros and cons of which car to buy.

Everyone who owns or starts a business always has 2 businesses, they are in the business of selling a service or product and they are in the business of making money. They will sell what makes most sense to them, in the Car Makers and Big Oils mind; gas is what makes sense today.

Today, gas prices are soaring faster than a Cheetah can run. Alternatives are few and in low quantities, the only other option is to conserve and drive the demand down. But eventually it will only make gas prices higher before they can even consider lowering it. And I have a hard time believing that anyone in the business of making money will lower prices on a product that sells at the current price unless losses are big. And once they start losing and the chance of making more money starts to disappear, that is when we, the consumer, start to win, in a way.

In other words, high gas prices that continue to grow can only be beneficial eventually. Just like doing exercise where are first it hurts the muscles but eventually the pain will leave and the benefits will start to show. In the end the pain was a necessary evil in order to reach the goal or a fit hard body.

I don’t care if gas prices continue to grow. Sure things will get bad, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I believe it will be a bright one. I can deal with driving my car less often than necessary; I look at the silver lining on it. Using a bike with exercise as a bonus, less stops at gas stations, fewer trips to the mechanic, less harm to the environment, more time with the family, etc.

This to me is proof that not everything that can be considered bad is always a bad thing. Sometimes bad things have to happen so that good things can come thru. Like forest fires, when fires burn out the dry leaves, trees and branches it makes way for new trees to grow and a future new forest area, it’s all part of the circle of life (yes, I got this from The Lion King). This is how I kinda see Bush. Things may not be as good as we all would want it to be with Bush as President, but with him the American people have learned that the rest of the world never really liked us, that it was all a charade, a game of pretend. With him we have found that many of our Gov’t offices were lacking in abilities to get the job done such as the CIA, FEMA, Social Security and others. With Bush we have learned that there are those who claim to be our allies but will turn their backs on us when their benefits are on the line. We have learned that those who claim to be our allies actually do business behind our backs with the enemy. With Bush we have seen how incompetent and useless the U.N. is. We have seen how bad the immigration problem really is. Because of Bush we also know how corrupt our own Gov’t system is, how everyone is motivated by how much money you can throw at them, by how much power they can get while working in the Gov’t.

This country was heading towards chaos way before Bush even considered the idea of the Presidency. And with all his mistakes, his misspoken words, his poor choices and his low numbers, we the American people should be thankful that all the bad things and those to come, have come out of the dark and into the light for us to see. Bush has given this country the chance of a lifetime to open their eyes and realize that changes must be done.

Bush may go down in history as the worst President ever in the US, but to me he will be the forest fire this country needed in order to raise from the ashes as a better country. And we can do it because we are Americans and we always bounce back from any situation that brings us down.

So higher gas prices can only lead to one thing, a better US. Cause we either start using alternative fuels that are better to the environment and better and more efficient vehicles or gas prices will eventually drop when people stop buying it for not being able to afford it.

The same goes for Bush, his 8 years as President can only lead to one thing as well, a better US. Cause everything that has been found to be broken in the US will eventually be fix (hopefully) now that we all know they are broken.

This is all being really hopeful.

Charles,

If Bush does wind up being the 'forest fire' would he still be the 'worst' president? Seems to me this would be what many of the right wing commentators are saying. That they see the same things that happened to Reagon.

I liked the analogy of training. It takes a lot of work to get into shape but once in shape you still have to go through pain in order to main a high level of fitness. Good Stuff.

Bush will be a mediocre president. And your analogy of the forrest fire is apt. It matters not that Bush and Cheney are oil men. No democrat could have done a diddly damn difference. The simple fact is that to get the democrat agenda, oil prices have to soar. And they are.

This has nothing to do with big oil, Bush, Cheney, or Haliburton. It has to do with simple ecomics. The price will moderate. As the price means that more producers will come on line. The law of supply and demand. It is not a man made law, it is a natural law. And cannot be denied.

There is no gouging. There is simply the fact that when too many dollars chase too few goods, the price goes up. The democrats will demonize it, but even in power they cannot do anything about it. Except to make it worse.

Not sure about the worst cause that depends on who you ask. Not everyone will say yes just like there are many who believe Clinton sucked.

Interesting though, no matter what I write in my articles, you guys always seem to have a way with words that make me sound so very amature. But I like it cause I learn a lot from it.

I admit Bush is not that great, but I don't believe he is the worst. There is no way to say what anyone else could have done better after 9/11. We will never know if Mr. Internet himself Al Gore could have done any better. We just have to accept what has happened and hope that the next President can now iron down all the wrinkles found in the fabric of the Gov't that most of us were completely oblivious to.
