So, how many here like Latin music? Even though I was born in New Jersey, my Latin background and the love for its music is undeniable. The moment I set foot in Puerto Rico at the age of 8 to live Salsa became my music of life. Though I never really learned to dance salsa really good, trust me it’s not easy, I still loved listening to it and learning all the lyrics.

Today I have , what I consider, a great collection of the best songs from the best Latin singers of many genres like El Gran Combo, Frankie Ruiz and Tito Rojas from my salsa selection; Bonny Cepeda, Elvis Crespo and La Gran Manzana from my Merengue selection, even Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderon and Don Omar from my reggeaton selection. But no matter what I have my salsa collection is my pride and joy of my Latin music, just like my 80’s collection is my pride and joy of my English collection of music.

So do you have any favorite Latin music, any singer in particular? Or have you never really give it a try? If not, I recommend you at least give it a shot, you have nothing to lose and you might just like it. If you have any questions as to who you should try, I can give a few suggestions. The classic stuff is the best to me, but everyone has their own taste.

You're kidding me, am I the only Latino on this site, or am I the only one who likes Latin music?

I am not latino (french unfortunately), but my wife and I have tried Salsa Dancing (Beginners 101).  it is hard!  And as far as latin music, you mean that stuff we use to sing in the Catholic Church 40 years ago?

I love all sorts of Latino music...Tejano, some Norteno, Mexicano Tradicional, latin pop, rock, salsa...

I've enjoyed music from these artists: Luis Miguel, Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez, Los Tigres del Norte, Alejandro Sanz, Carlos Vives, Shakira, Pepe Aguilar, Mana, Juan Luis Guerra, Pedro Fernandez, Selena, Kumbia Kings, Ricardo Arjona.

I'm not too familiar with the newest artists out there (except maybe for Juanes). Also, I know I'm forgetting many I did not put on my list...I hate when I do that.

I think I'm supposed to be a Latina, but my upbringing must have bleached it all out of me.

My mom still claims to be able to speak fluent Spanish although no one can understand her when she tries to speak it.

As for the music, my mom & dad liked Linda Ronstadt's Canciones de mis Padres and I did too.

But I think Ricky Martin is totally gorgeous. And intelligent. And humble. Oh, how fortunate his wife is.

That's about all I know about Latin music right now.

Hehe, I doubt what I mean would be heard in any church. Not unless you change the lyrics.

That's a great list, something my wife would listen to. I'm not to into those on your list. I like Salsa more than anything, to make it worse I actually have a few songs from Menudo on my PC. Brings back memories of when I was a child and my sister was a big fan of them. Good times, good times.

You think? How's that even possible? lol.

My mom still claims to be able to speak fluent Spanish although no one can understand her when she tries to speak it.

Now that's funny.

I've heard of her, have a fw songs as well.

But I think Ricky Martin is totally gorgeous. And intelligent. And humble. Oh, how fortunate his wife is.

He has a wife? Well he is really a nice person. He can sing and has a few good songs. But all those rumors always make me wonder why women still like him. I mean I heard he even admited to liking guys. Oh well.

Thanx for the comments, I would like to find someone who likes Salsa as much as I do online. Will keep searching.

I enjoy Latin music, the newer versions, pop that is. I enjoy dancing to the music. I used to enjoy going to this club in NY every Friday for Happy Hour and dancing my legs off! I enjoyed Celia Cruz, some of her songs, don't ask me to name any cause I don't know the names! I also love Ricky Martin - was infatuated with his gorgeous body! Heehee, yep I was!

I also like Chyan, Christina Aguilar, Los Lonely Boys - love them!, and a couple of others I'm forgetting! Oh the brain doesn't always work! I don't speak the language although my hubby has Cuban bloodline.

Latin music does have an incredible variety to chose from. Many have dances that you probably think you might need rubber legs to pull it off, but all in all they are all great. I once joined a dancing group dadicated to dancing Balet Folklorico which is our native dance. It was beautiful to dane with outfits and all. Being able to dance something that was created by my ancesters was awsome and I felt proud to know it. It's part of my culture that I hope to pass on to my sons one day.

That's awesome. When I was dating the guy who became my husband, I'd drag him out to dance lessons (swing, mambo, and I would've loved salsa and everything else too), but he just sat on the sidelines and I had to dance with other men. *PHH*

Oh well. I've given up dancing since we got married. But I'd love to do it again someday.

Yeah go the salsa!! I love salsa but I dont know the name of groups or singers except for the famous Yuri Buenaventura. He rocks!

I dance a little, there are steps that are way too complicated but I know the basics. My teacher calls them Dile que si, Dile que no, enchufla, enchufla completa... I dont know if they're called the same everywhere though?

How sad. My wife nags me a lot about dancing. I'm just not to good at dancing around a lot of people like I use to when i was younger. Don't know why. Don't ever give up though.

El Gran Combo, Frankie Ruiz, Eddie Santiago, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Tito rojas, Tito Nieves and last but not least Celia Cruz.

There's also meregue groups that rock:

Bonny Cepeda, Limi-t 21, La Gran Manzana, Wilfrido Vargas and Elvis Crespo.

Need any more names let me know. I have a great list I can send you of all the songs I have.
