I wouldn't say I am an encyclopedia when it comes to the 80's but I'm a big fan of the music, the style, the culture but most of all the girls. I have a great collection of 80's music that is still growing. Everyday I listen to a few songs just to remind me of the good old days. I also like many 80's movies, my favorite is Back to the Future. Can't get enough of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd and their funny confusions thru out the movie.

I am, however, sad that my love for the 80's is only shared by me, I and myself. My wife does enjoy the music and the movies from time to time, but if given the chance she will chose rap music and rap based movies over my choices anytime. Even worse to find someone as fond to the 80's as I am near by is about as easy as finding a needle in a hay stack. I find it hard to believe that finding people of my generation who like 80's is so hard, most of them have joined the new generation and kept up with mainstream music like reggeaton (which I can't stand) and rap (which has only gotten worse with the years). I see them in their cars, at work, walking on the streets, at their houses, listening to today's music as if they were born into it. The worst part is not that they listen to some of this garbage played on radio, MP3 or CDs, it that they completely forgot where they came from, the music they grew up with, the actors of those times. It's almost an insult to relate them to those times, I've got better chances of getting them to listen to Arab music that music from the 80's. To think that those of previous generations, like that of my parents, still stick to the music or their era (most of them) and even I can relate to them a bit for my taste in music varies from oldies to 80's to 90's to some new music to even Latin music and classical music (I thank cartoons like Tom & Jerry and Looneytoons for using classical music in their cartoons).

I only wish to have someone around who would enjoy 80's music and movies as much as I do. To sing them out loud, to watch them hundreds of times, to reminisce, laugh and enjoy the good old days. It seems that the 80's have not only passed, but are also being forgotten. But as long as I'm alive, the 80's will always be remembered.

Well I guess I am alone in the 80's, and on this article as well. lol.

I am a child of the 80s...I began the 80s being 6 years old, and
ended the 80s turning 15. As cheesy as some of the music was, I loved it (Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran) the Bangles, hair bands, and much more).

My favorite movie is Sixteen Candles...still makes me laugh to this day! As for 80s style, let's just say that's my least favorite thing from that decade.

Parachute pants and big hair on girls. I loved it all. I still do. The 80's were the most simple time in my life. Nothing complicated. But alas, I have to move on.

I show my gratitude for the era by rolling down my windows and blasting the 80's station on my Sirrius. I don't do it often but it does happen.

The 80's was definitely a fun time for music. I know a gal who was born in 1988...and some time in her teens she paused and reflectively said, "You know, I like 80's music." like it was a mature revelation she'd just had. Man did that make me feel old.

For me, when I hear 80's music (as great as it is), it brings back weird memories of my childhood...and I'm glad my childhood is over. There are some truly great songs, but I've listened to them so many millions of times that frankly, they've gotten old. But occasionally I'll hear another one that I haven't ruined yet, and wow, those are awesome songs.

Maybe your contemporaries are experiencing the same sort of thing...they've moved on and they're creating new memories with new music. But I'm sure they'll never deny how great the music scene was back then.

Wow, I was only 4 yet somehow it all stuck to me. I have one hell of a list of songs from the 80's and very few people who enjoy it as much as I do. I did find many of the videos cheesy and maybe a song or 2, but that's what I liked about it. It wasn't always about "my b_tches" or "how many girls I have done" or "how bad my life was when I was little and in the ghetto". Sorry but that's just not my kind of music. I liked music about weird things like Thriller, Rock me Amadeus, California Girls and When Doves Cry. It was mostly a very romantic time to me and I am a nery romantic kinda guy.

One of my favs, together with The Breakfast Club, Footloose, Top Gun, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and of course Back to the Future. I have most of these movies at home and watch them often. Good days good days.

Ditto my friend. I loved the girls of the 80's. Today's girls think they have to show off every part of their bodies thru their clothes to get attention, and truth be told it works, but it only tells me that you body is all that matters and I like a girl who can think (yes this is true). I can't stand a woman who I have to be explaining even the simplest of things. Besides, it only means that sticking with a girl with today's styles will only mean that she will keep dressing like that and every man in the street will be looking and on the hunt as well.

I do it all the time and proud of it. You should see peoples reaction when I play " I like big butts" from Sir-mix-a-lot. Funny, just funny.

I guess since your a girl age does bather you. Not me, I'm proud of my age and of my era. Nothing played today can compare. Either way, I see age as with age comes wisdom.

Ah yes, lambada, I loved dancing it. I knew Thriller, Beat It, Billy Jean and Bad by heart. It was something done on weekends for fun. 13 going on 30 was a pretty good movie, makes me wish I could go back in time rather than forward just to relive the good old days.

I would say hate, more like I just didn't catch on. Once Britney Spears came along, it was all over.

The A-team, Knight Rider, Cindy Lauper, the real Micheal Jackson and who can forget the great Paula Abdul. They can keep their Daddy Yankee, Kelly Clarkson, P. Diddy, Clinton and Bush.

Thanx for sticking by, it's nice to know the 80's in 2006 are not as lonely as I thought. It's up to us to keep it alive till the ends of time. Rock on.

I like the 80s too. I also enjoy listening to the music and watching the movies on A&E. I came of age in the 80s, i.e., graduated high school, started dating and having fun! Those were some fun times for me. You're not so alone in this Charles, you have some company!

Thanx. I have seen the show on VH1 called I love the 80's and I love the 80's strike back. I did find it annoying to see some people make fun of certain things, some were people who live in todays world and are glad the 80's are gone. I don't care what they say, the 80's and many of the things that happened, were made or created in the 80's were the best to me.

I've seen it too. I think those people are just so clueless! I think they get paid if they can out talk each other with the gibberish they dish out. So what they say is absolutely not important, not to me anyway! Oh can anyone not love the 80s, Phil Collins, Duran, Duran, Hall & Oates, and I liked how we used to dress then too. OK so some of the styles were a bit dated, but hey, we live and we learn! Anyways, those styles are now 'vintage'!
