Is the political world a bit slow these couple of days or are the JU people asleep? Where is everyone and whats up with the forums? It seems a bit slow around here past 2 days. I know there is this thing with that Galactic Emipre II game going on sale, but if the forum page still shows, why is it that there are hardly any people posting or replying? It is lonely and boring around here people, wake up and let's get this place rolling again, please. These 5 hours at work can be really boring when nothing is going on on JU. Let's get to work people.

you're ripping off your employer for five hours of wages and you got the nerve to bitch about it?

Yay, we're back. OK enough excitment.

Ju has been down for two days, dear, to provide bandwidth for stardocks new game release.

It was announced. I guess you missed it.

Pay attention to admin posts in the future!

Yes ma'am.

you're ripping off your employer for five hours of wages and you got the nerve to bitch about it?

Isn't it great? Nothing like having your sis for a boss and everyone else across the ocean from you.

Do I detect a hint of evny?

Don't worry, my job get's done. I'm just good at multitasking. And I'm not complaining, I just enjoy these great debates on this site. What better place for a chatter-box like me?

Five whole hours? EVERY DAY?!?!
Man, is your firm hiring?

Actually my sis will be looking for a replacement for me within 2 or 3 months. I'm moving back to the states. I earn in 5 hours what most people here would make in 8, except for benefits.

It's an easy job, dangerous but easy. I deal with chemicals everyday, there's always a chance of getting hurt by one of them but I'm very careful not to let that happen.

I'm confused. You've complained on other threads about low pay and problems making ends meet. Do you make $40+ an hour?

?? You multitask blogging and handling dangerous chemicals? Does your boss/sister know about this?

if you're spending time doing something other than that for which you're being paid, someone is being ripped off. whether it's the owner of the business for which you are supposedly working or their investors or even their clients, someone getting nothin back for the salary you're collecting.

Multi-tasking and chemical mixing sounds like global terrorism.

I do get low pay. I only get about $350 every 2 weeks and here that don't cut it. No I don't get $40 an hour, just $9.50. That is not really much here when you only work part time.
That's why I'm going back to the states.

People, people, take it easy. I don't do both at the same time. I just tend to have lots of free time at my job, so I hang out here till I find something to do. My job is easy, I could be done in 2 hours but then I wouldn't have any excuse to ask for full time. There is more work on it's way, enough to work 8 hours, but it takes time for the transition and chances are I could still probably do it in half the time, but will not. Why am I even explaining this to yall. I got no problems with my job. It gets done, been doing it for 2 years now.

What's your point? Don't act as if you never did it. Don't act as if I'm the only one in the world who's ever "ripped off" thier own boss of hours. Like everyone clocks in after lunch and runs back to thier station to get to work. BS and everyone knows it. So keep yor corny comments to yourself about ripping my boss off.

Who ever said I mixed chemicals? I maintain control and supply the chemicals to the stations here. I keep in in a storage, I order them and deliver them to who needs them. I don't directly work with the chemicals at all. I do get dirty once in a while because the people who use them tend to leave the containers dirty on the outside, thank God it's never been anything serious but I have learned as I go to be careful. So no, no terrorism here. Shit, who knows if the Gov't sees this and now might want to investigate me. Thanx a lot steven.

Why do any of you care about my life anyways. So what if I don't work "my" 5 hours, the day all of you care about everyone else and actually do something about it then you can say something. But to criticize as if you were free of sin is hypocracy.

Actually if true progressive politics had been allowed to unfold after WWII, we might by now have a universal five hour workday. [Your favorite dreamer.]

It's not that much here, either. It would be difficult to support a family on $700 a month anywhere in the country. You earn more than minimum wage workers here, but I think it's quite a stretch to say that you make more working 5 hours a day than other JoeUsers do working 8.

You're wasting your company's money. It's great that you're efficient, but you should be filling those other 3 on the clock hours with something constructive.

When I was working (I am a stay-at-home mom now), I didn't cheat my employers. I often worked through lunch breaks and stayed past closing working at my last job. When I had down time, I used it to seek out customers, take care of business phone calls, and study my trade. I was the manager of the studio, working alone, and I could have easily gotten away with shamming, but professionalism was important to me, and the better the studio did, the more money I made.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect to not get flack for this post (and your subsequent comments). The fact that some other people may not have a solid work ethic doesn't make it ok or excusable.

Keep in mind that I live in Puerto Rico and here a $9.5 an hour job is like a $12 an hour job over there. Most people I that work for the company I provide service to earn an average of $7 to $8 an hour. And these people make airplane parts, but that's American businesses over seas are like. Kinda what Col complains a lot about.

I agree, normally I'm a 110% kinda person. I worked hard in all my previous jobs, but that all had one thing in common, I lost all my jobs because I gave 110%. Thinking I had to work hard to work my way up the great vine of management, I ended up making others look like they moved in slow motion (was not my intention) and they, in turn, found ways to screw me because they were happy where they were and were not looking foward to higher positions so me doing more than them ment that the managers would wonder "if he could do that much why can't they". The story of my life.

I always gave it my most, I was the first one there and the last one to leave. I worked overtime when others didn't, I even too days of people who needed days off. I was the go-to guy. I was a flotter in many of my jobs, I could do almost anyones job if they were out. I always ended up being better than most people within the first few days not because I was a show off, I was just a quick learner and I didn't like wasting time with my work. I created a work system that allowed me to do my job faster, more efficient, and with very little or no mistakes. I remember I solves many of the problems existing at my brothers job when I started working for him. Boxes would get lost inside the warehouse (which wasn't that big BTW), no one never knew where the box was or if was even shipped already. I created a system that allowed me to keep track of all the boxes insides the warehouse all the way till they made it to thier destination. The warehouse manager was so impressed with me that at first he watched me with a hawk eye cause he knew of my addiction to the internet but then he eventually let me do my job without any worries because he trusted me and I never let him down. Lost boxes went down from 5 boxes a day to 1 a month and that sometimes wasn't even my fault. So you see, I am a hard worker, I just only found one person in the world to appreciate my hard work, that warehouse manager, but I lost him when they decided to change me to the office area because of my computer skills and qualifications. They needed another person in that area but it became hell since day one when the manager of that office thought I was out to get her job when I really wasn't. But she made my life misserable anyways and my brother (The President of the company) believed her over me. And that's how I ended up here in Puerto Rico. We argued, I told him every nasty word that existed except mother-f (because we had the same mother) and he fired me. But it was actually his fault and my second child was only 1 month old and he didn't care because he was the President. I don't speak to him much today, everyone nagged me till I went to him and said sorry for something that was his fault and one day I will let him know that.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect to not get flack for this post (and your subsequent comments). The fact that some other people may not have a solid work ethic doesn't make it ok or excusable.

I know what you mean, and I'm not being very serious with most of my comments here (except for this one). I don't really care what people think I do in my job, whether I'm ripping my boss off or not. We all know that in todays world the smart ones surive and no one is free of sin. I have always believed that if people really did care they wouldn't make garage sales and would just give that stuff away to someone who needs it or wants it. After all, no one buys something with the idea of selling it after you are done and tired of using it or it breaks. Not unless your in that business.
