I’m a big fan of fast food. Thru out the years I’ve learned a thing or two on how to shop at fast foods. There was always the problem of missing items or wrong orders. Another thing I hated a lot was the waiting time. I never understood how some places would take long on an empty drive thru while in other locations of the same fast food service was great.
One thing however tends to irritate me the most is the lack of condiments in my bag. I came to understand the reason behind not always getting ketchup when I ordered a combo that came with fries but when they don’t offer it and I then realize I have to eat my fries ketchup less I would get upset. I mean I can’t always remember to check if I have the necessary condiments. I however expect them to at least ask me since their 4 to 8 hours of work are spent around the products. For crying out loud, ketchup and fries are like hamburgers with cheese, not everyone like both together but you ask anyways. Another example is the chicken nuggets in some fast food menus. BBQ sauce should be a no brainer unless you have other options like honey mustard, which you should then ask which one would they like. I’m not saying hat none of them ask or offer condiments, many of them do, I just hate the idea of having to ask for it myself or forgetting and having to eat it without the condiment when it was their responsibility to make sure I got what I paid for.

And for those who may want to claim as to who am I to say what their responsibilities are, I worked in a fast food once, for 2 years. We had one main rule, great service was a must and that included making sure the customer had any and all condiments and/or utensils necessary for a great eating experience. As a cook I always made sure to follow the cooking instructions for quality food and as a cashier I made sure that every customer got what they paid for and more living them with a great impression and a desire to return for the great food and service. I have experienced what it’s like to be on both sides of the counter, as a worker I always kept in mind that I would treat the customer the way I would like to be treated, now if I could only clone myself I would always have great service anywhere my clones worked.

My point (for those who have yet to get it)? I believe that fast foods should do better at making sure those customers that deserve good, no, great service should get it and that employees should not paint all customers with the same brush. Depending on the content of the orders, employees should always make sure to offer the proper condiments. And smile never killed anyone. After all a job is a job and if you not happy there find another one, cause I, the customer, should not have to pay the price for you unhappiness.

I've had many occasions when the fast food worker doesn't put the condiment in my bag, that or something was left out. I try to remember to ask but not always. I wonder why they do that? It would make sense to add the condiments with the order.

I would think that condiments are the least expensive thing in fast food resupply orders. I should know, I worked for a fast food once and placed some of the resupply orders myself. It will never make sense why we would have to ask for them or they would fail to offer or just put it in. That's like an insult to injury to the time one has to wait in a "fast food" drive thru, which is meant to get you out faster. I usually go inside and get out faster that way.

I can't stand it when they miss something on my either. It happens to me about 75% of the time, no joke. I check my orders everytime before I drive away or leave the store and plenty , plenty of times I've had to ask for my missing paid items. Once in a while I get one of those "I know I put it there" look but they gotta fork it up anyways. I even get free stuff at times if the Manager is present at thye moment.

If I thought that way I would be unhappy 75% of the time.

1. Ask for what you want. Most places try to save money by only handing out condiments on request (some places even charge for them).

2. Check your bag before you drive off. It may be annoying to do so at the time, but it will save you A LOT of grief later.

What TW said. McDonald's, for instance, is supposed to charge you for all salad dressings beyond your franchise endorsed allotment. The days of free ketchup and mustard packs are over, and no more will the children of the impoverished be able to subsist on soup made from carefully hoarded half and half and ketchup packets. This is capitalism, my friend, and if you don't get on the boat, we're leaving you at the station.

Most minimum wage employees are lucky to make it to work every day on their schedule. If they had the capacity to think, they would be an assistant manager at that restaurant. It's the harsh reality, friend.

My suggestion: When you think of it, order EXTRA condiments, and keep them in your glove box for the times you forget. Or else worrying about it's bound to give you an ulcer!

True, their are some who actually claim to charge all though I have never been charged for it. I agree one should ask, Just that one can't always remember, after all it's a fast food and the point is to get it and go as fast as possible. I remember when I worked in KFC, I had a timer over the drive-thru window that my manager and/or supervisor would check once in a while and question the lengthy ones.

This is a must, this should be taught in school. It should be made a law.

That's what I do, I hardly ever throw away condiments. they can be life savers at times.
